Publication Deadlines

WIN | WIN Storytelling Dos and Don’ts
DO: Be professional, yet conversational, accessible, and human.
DO: Stay positive, optimistic, inspiring, and authentic.
DO: Speak from your own voice, while being inclusive enough to connect with a diverse audience.
DON’T: Include any political commentary or advocacy.
DON’T: Criticize, insult, or include negative portrayals of any individuals, organizations, advertisers, or industries. We’re here to uplift only.
For Written Content
HEADLINE: Write a short but compelling title that summarizes your piece. Get folks excited to read it!
BYLINE: Include your name, company, and title/role
INTRODUCTION (50-100 words): Introduce the topic and its relevance to sports and social impact. Anecdotes, unexpected ideas, and quick event recaps are all great hooks.
MAIN CONTENT (200-400 words):
CONCLUSION (50-100 words): Wrap up with your final thoughts, resources, or call-to-action
SUBMISSION FORMAT: Submit your article as a Word document or Google Doc.
ATTACHMENTS: Include images, graphics, or videos as separate files, Ensure you have rights to use and provided media, and provide credits and/our source links as applicable.
For Video Content
LENGTH: Under 2 minutes
CONTENT: In general, follow the same main content/story arc as recommended for written submissions.
STYLE: Approach creating your WIN | WIN video the same way you would for social content. Avoid “talking head” style interviews, and instead, opt for “show over tell.” Use a mix of people, places, experiences, narration, music, and graphics to bring your story to life.
CREDIT: Make sure to introduce yourself (we want to amplify your voice!) but please avoid being overly-salesy or self-promotional.
WIN | WIN BRANDING: Please include our main logo in your intro or outro, and our icon as a persistent bug in the lower right corner of the frame. Drop us a note at editorial@thatsthewinwinwin.com to request the logos.
SUBMISSION FORMAT: Send us your video as an .mov or .mp4. Vimeo links, Dropbox, etc. also work great.
ATTACHMENTS: Include images, graphics, or videos as separate files, Ensure you have rights to use and provided media, and provide credits and/our source links as applicable.
For Audio Content
LENGTH: Under 3 minutes
CONTENT: Follow the same main content/story arc as recommended for written submissions
STYLE: Create your W|W audio content like a mini-podcast. Aim for energetic conversations between two or more people when possible to provide diverse voices, perspectives, and opportunities for connection.
CREDIT: Make sure to introduce yourself and your guests (we want to amplify your voice!) but please avoid being overly-salesy or self-promotional.
WIN | WIN BRANDING: Please mention that you’re creating this audio piece in collaboration with, or in support of, WIN | WIN.
SUBMISSION FORMAT: Send us your audio content as an .wav or .mp3. Soundcloud links, Dropbox, etc. also work great.
Credibility and Content Review
Please be sure to verify all statistics, data, and claims before submitting your story.
Include citations, references, and/or source links as applicable, including for images, video footage, soundtracks, and any/all other elements that are not your original creation.
Our Editorial Team reserves the right to review and edit written submissions for clarity, grammar, and alignment with our style guide, while preserving the contributor’s unique voice.
We may also edit video and audio content as needed to remove an any sections that may be inappropriate for our audience, are not factually validated, or are overtly self-promotional.
