Barry University launched the groundbreaking Barry's Adapted Sport Administration concentration by hosting a thrilling wheelchair basketball game between the Beit Halochem (wounded Israeli veterans) and the Memorial Sharks. Here’s the play-by-play:

  • New Academic Focus: Barry's Sport Management Program now offers a specialized concentration in Adapted Sport Administration, training future leaders in wheelchair and adaptive sports.

  • Impactful Launch Event: The wheelchair basketball game between wounded Israeli veterans and a local South Florida team showcased the talent and spirit of adaptive athletes.

  • Commitment to Inclusivity: This initiative underscores Barry University's dedication to fostering a more inclusive sporting environment and providing opportunities for athletes of all abilities.

Reading this story gave us the biggest smile! A few months after the memorable Summer Paralympic Games in Paris, Barry University had the foresight to address a vital need within the sports industry. While the development of adaptive sports programs for athletes is essential, the availability of skilled professionals to effectively manage and sustain these programs is equally critical.

We love the holistic approach taken by the university, focusing on crucial areas like management, organization, and sponsorship. They’re not just talking about inclusivity — they’re building an infrastructure that will have a long-lasting impact on the industry. This initiative sets a compelling example for other institutions to follow, creating more equitable and inclusive world of sports.
