NASCAR Foundation's Giveathon Day Drives Nationwide Community Impact

Featured Focus:
Funding & Legacy, Community Programs, Partnerships For Good.

Scope of Impact: National

The NASCAR Foundation's NASCAR Day Giveathon returned for its third year in May to build on the sport's unwavering commitment to community impact. Here’s what should be known:

  • Growth and Reach: This 27-hour online giving event, launched in 2023, has become a cornerstone of NASCAR's philanthropic efforts. It has channeled nearly $1.6 million to diverse charities across all 50 states since 2023, demonstrating profound, widespread impact.

  • Innovative Engagement: The Giveathon engages the passionate NASCAR fan base through unique incentives. Donors contributing $25 or more can have their name emblazoned on Rajah Caruth's No. 71 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet during a NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series race.

  • Strategic Amplification: Powerful partnerships between NASCAR and The NASCAR Foundation amplify the Giveathon. Generous matching gift opportunities from key sponsors like NASCAR, Kaulig Giving, First Nation Group Foundation, and Borkan & Scahill significantly boost contributions, maximizing collective impact.

We love that the NASCAR Day Giveathon integrates seamlessly within the NASCAR's ecosystem in order to leverage drivers, teams, and fans to drive philanthropic actions. The Giveathon provides direct financial aid to local charities, amplified by corporate matching gifts.

We particularly like the various incentives that are available throughout the 37 hours event. It has 10 matching gifts windows and taps into fan engagement to drive more donations. The partnership between the NASCAR Foundation, NASCAR, and corporate and philanthropic partners is a model that has already proven its worth to channel funding to diverse charities across the country. It is aligned with the NASCAR Foundation’s holistic social impact strategy.

Even though we applaud the impact already made by the NASCAR Day Giveathon, it is only scratching the surface.

The 2025 edition raised about $300k, less than the previous years. One of the easy ideas we have to make this even bigger next year is to align it with a race weekend to benefit from the excitement and media moment that this would generate.

As this year’s event was in the middle of the week on the 13th and 14th of May, some fans may not have heard about it or only after the fact. There’s also a big opportunity to ask drivers to pick a charity of their choice to highlight during the weekend and for teams and their owners to match donations made to these nonprofits. We’re excited to see how this event keeps growing year after year.

We want to direct your attention to matching gifts. They can often be a game changer. They don’t need to be huge. Even a $5k match can have a big impact on donor participation. Have you tried matching gifts in the past? How have they worked for you? We’d love to hear your experience.
