WNBA and VOICE IN SPORT Empower More Young Female Athletes Through Mentorship

Featured Focus: Partnerships for Good, Access / Inclusion / Equality, Youth Development

Scope of Impact: Nationwide

The WNBA and its Changemaker Collective are reinforcing their dedication to the future of women's sports by extending their partnership with VOICE IN SPORT for a second year. Here’s what you should know about the collaboration:

  • Girls Empowerment Through Sports: The WNBA Changemaker Collective, including brands like AT&T and Nike, is collaborating with VOICE IN SPORT, a digital platform for female athletes, to continue their community partnership focused on empowering young girls in sports.

  • Year 2 of this Initiative: Following a successful first year that provided virtual mentorship to 50,000 girls, the extended partnership aims to double this reach, targeting 100,000 young athletes by the end of the second year. This expansion demonstrates a commitment to significant growth and broader support.

  • New Components Introduced: The "Build Your Career in Sport Leadership Series" featuring women executives from WNBA Changemaker brands, and the launch of the VIS App, offers direct access to mentorship, expert content, and a supportive community.

Positive representation in sports is so important for young girls, and this continued partnership between the WNBA, its Changemaker Collective, and VOICE IN SPORT (VIS) exemplifies what a successful initiative can achieve in that area.

By focusing on virtual mentorship from WNBA players and industry leaders, VIS is directly tackling the issue of girls dropping-out of sports at an alarmingly high rate. Having relatable role models and guidance can significantly boost girls’ confidence and encourage them to stay active, giving them more of the boost they need to succeed in the future.

We love how every single component of this partnership underscores the connection between playing sports and and future professional success — making another solid case for the life skills gained through athletics.

This partnership is a powerful model for how strategic collabs within different sectors of the sports and nonprofit worlds can drive real change, promote gender equality, and cultivate future leaders both on and off the field. There’s still a lot more work to be done here, but we think you’re up to the challenge.
