Clark Foundation & Musco Light-Up Des Moines' Youth with New Courts

Featured Focus: Athlete-Driven Impact, Partnerships for Good, Youth Development

Scope of Impact: Local

Caitlin Clark's foundation and Musco Lighting are teaming up to boost youth sports in Des Moines. Later this year, four middle schools will receive state-of-the-art "Mini-Pitch" systems to help strengthen their athletics programs and provide safe spaces for their students.

  • Big Win for Des Moines Public Schools (DMPS): Hiatt, Callanan, McCombs, and Weeks Middle Schools are all getting new soccer and basketball courts, which Dr. Ian Roberts, DMPS superintendent, said “is an important part of our strategic plan to reimagine education in Des Moines.”

  • Top-Tier Facilities: Musco's "Mini-Pitch" includes lighting, fencing, and ADA access.

  • Community Impact: This initiative offers more opportunities for kids to play and connect, develop healthy habits, practice teamwork, and build confidence that will have a ripple-effect beyond the court.

We continue to admire Caitlin Clark’s commitment to Iowa (you can check Download #3 to read about her $88,000 donation to four Iowa charities). This initiative ties even more closely into her passion areas by directly addressing the need for improved youth sports infrastructure in Des Moines.

Both the Caitlin Clark Foundation and Musco Lighting believe that sports play a crucial role in building teamwork, fostering resilience, and promoting healthy habits, and this investment aims to instill these valuable lessons in the youth of Des Moines, ultimately contributing to a stronger and more vibrant community.

While this may not seem like a typical brand partnership, Musco is most definitely a brand — and it’s a great example of how companies in all industries, whether they’re well-known or not, can work together with athletes and organizations to achieve shared objectives. Musco's specialized knowledge in sports infrastructure complements the Caitlin Clark Foundation's mission and vision perfectly, which makes it a natural fit.

And yes, while it may not be the flashiest partnership out there, it might just be the most efficient for the school system to reach its desired goals — which is why we think it’s an approach worth keeping in mind for your own future initiatives.

The foundation's mission is to uplift youth through education, nutrition, and sport.

The company’s innovative sports lighting and "Mini-Pitch" system solutions provide high-quality solutions for youth spaces.

After partnering with Clark in 2024 for a backpack giveaway, the school district proudly announced its latest partnership with the WNBA superstar.
