Easter weekend and Passover are behind us, which means the NBA and NHL playoffs are well underway. If you ask us, it’s the best time of the year! OK fine, ONE of the best times of the year, according to football, baseball, soccer, and every other sports fan out there.

In honor of the NBA champion Boston Celtics starting their title defense, our Win of the Week takes us back a few months to spotlight the launch of Jaylen Brown’s Boston Xchange. This new initiative aims to tackle racial wealth gap in Boston by amplifying an ecosystem that is already in place.

Our top picks from the Download Desk are following in the footsteps of the 2024 NBA Finals MVP by focusing on campaigns centered around Equity & Social Justice.

And, last but not least, Cody and Amy talk Barbie and Bron in our newly revamped Beyond The Scoreboard — longer format, more conversation, deeper marketing and social impact insights. Give it a watch and let us know what you think. What do you want more of? What should we leave on the (virtual) cutting-room floor?

Our WIN | WIN community is growing day by day, and we want to thank you for that! Keep spreading the word, follow us on YouTube and LinkedIn, and let us know how we can keep making our content better for you.

Until next week,

WIN OF THE WEEK

Jaylen Brown Launches Boston Xchange (BXC) to Tackle Racial Wealth Gap

When there’s a story this good, we don’t mind rewinding a few months to cover it. In August of 2024, Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown launched Boston Xchange (BXC) to confront the city's stark racial wealth gap. BXC focuses on empowering entrepreneurs of color within Boston's creative economy, but it’s not the first time Brown’s stepped up to support critical community issues, particularly those concerning social and economic justice.

Fan's Kindness Honors Gallagher's Late Mother in Emotional On-Ice Jersey Swap

“People are telling me they need more positivity in their lives and I’m glad I could do it.”

- Lucie Lachance, on offering to give Canadiens’ Brendan Gallagher the Hockey Fights Cancer jersey she'd won at auction, in memory of his late mom

This Week’s Spotlight: Equity & Social Justice

Keeping with the theme from Jaylen Brown’s BXC, we’re featuring four impact stories this week that bring athletes, teams, leaders, and brands together to create equity — and opportunities — for community members who often get overlooked.

Beyond the Scoreboard

If you missed the first drop of our revamped coffee-couchy-commentary show last week, don’t worry. It’s not going anywhere. We’d love to know what you think of it, though. What do you want more of? What do you want less of?

What Else We’re Following

  • We’re all over Kane footwear. The athlete in us loves that they’re dedicated to active recovery — it feels too good to put on a pair after pounding the pavement. They also just look dope. Tons of great collabs, but they truly are a WIN | WIN for their commitment to the planet. Their shoes are made from 100% bio-based EVA from Brazilian sugarcane. This year they are doubling down with an ongoing partnership with 1% for the Planet, Surfrider Foundation and Project Renew.  Check out their latest collab and tell them WIN | WIN should be next on their list. 🌎

  • Speaking of collabs? We’re looking to partner with some great up-and-coming brands to start producing WIN | WIN products. Yeah, we need the staples of hoodies, hats, and bags, but we’re also looking for interesting items that have that underground sports vibe. Drop us a line at [email protected] if you have suggestions. Or better yet, hit us on instagram! 🧢🎽🚩

  • The NFL Draft is headed to Green Bay this week. A town with a little over 100k people and less than 5k hotel rooms is going to be pushed to its limits, but if anyone can nail it, it’s Titletown. We love that the NFL decided to host the draft in this midwest charmer. It’s expected to bring in almost $100mm in economic development. Favorite on our list of things to do this week is the “Taste of the NFL” event that will transform downtown Green Bay into a farmers market to benefit local folks — now that’s a WIN | WIN. 🧀
